Clare McCammon-Schulhof (she/her) holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Development from the University of California, Davis and earned her Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Sonoma State University. Clare comes to Sonoma Valley Family Therapy with over ten years of experience working with children, teens, young adults, and families, primarily in educational settings. Clare has a deep understanding of the developmental needs and the challenges that young people and parents face in today’s world. She is excited to expand her practice to support not only youth, but also adults, families, and couples as they navigate their complex realities.
Through her work, Clare has cared for clients navigating anxiety, depression, grief and loss, life transitions, ADHD, and Autism. In her more recent work as a school-based mental health counselor for Petaluma City Schools, Clare helped middle schoolers with challenges related to peer relationships, family dynamics, self-esteem, neurodivergence, identity exploration, and gender expression. Clare also holds a strong interest in working with individuals and couples experiencing challenges with infertility, pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum world. Whether you're seeking support during a difficult time or looking to deepen your connection with yourself and others, Clare holds a space for you rooted in compassion and genuine care.
The core of Clare’s therapeutic work is Client-Centered and Strengths-Based. She also integrates a variety of modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Art Therapy, Mindfulness techniques, and Somatic work. Clare fully believes in the power of connecting our minds and bodies in order to process trauma and heal emotional wounds. To Clare, therapy offers a collaborative and empowering space dedicated to supporting clients in understanding themselves and their own unique journey towards healing. Clare holds true the importance of meeting clients where they are with empathy, respect, and authenticity, in order to foster secure and safe therapeutic relationships.
