Sophia obtained her Master's Degree in Social Work from California State University, Long Beach in 2019. Sophia has an extensive background working with children of all ages, including several years’ experience working with foster youth and their families, and children who have experienced trauma. Sophia also has experience working with youth who struggle with depression, anxiety, ADHD, oppositional defiant disorder, PTSD, and autism diagnoses.
Sophia worked at Valley of the Moon Children’s Home for many years, and in the Sonoma Valley Unified School District as a counseling intern. She has served as a volunteer with several non-profit organizations who support youth and families, including the Ceres Community Project, CASA of Sonoma County, Create Perform Sonoma, and UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital.
Sophia works from a collaborative strength-based approach. She believes in meeting a client where they are. She believes that the therapeutic relationship should be one of authenticity, collaboration, and one that feels grounding, safe and supportive. She helps clients identify their own inner strengths, talents, and passions, and supports forming meaningful connections in their lives. Sophia particularly enjoys working with children, and incorporates play therapy and art therapy into her practice. Sophia also has experience working with adults and families.
